The Lupus Alliance of America was established in 2001 for the purpose of assisting those who are diagnosed with lupus live better lives, while searching for a cure. Since that time the Alliance has made great strides in maintaining that mission by raising funds for research, and designing programs to spread awareness of lupus, as well as by providing educational, supportive, and financial programs, through their affiliates.

Through their programs they have helped thousands of people living with lupus, as well as their families, and they have continued to strive to reach even more in the 21st century. With the Internet becoming the hub of everyone’s knowledge on everything from favorite movies, to diseases and organizations, the Lupus Alliance has spent the last several months updating their website. This week, the Alliance will launch their new informative website which will include new social media networking, blog listings, opportunities to fundraise online and more.

The new website will allow those visiting to purchase the Lupus Newslink, the Alliance`s quarterly newsletter that not only features the latest in lupus research, but also informative stories on everything from men and lupus, pregnancy and lupus, managing your stress and more. Their new extensive resources section features links in categories ranging from government agencies and disability information, kids with lupus, pharmaceutical companies, internet savvy sites to learn what news on the internet is true, as well as information on sun protection and health related organizations.

The new blog links section lists the latest in lupus personal blogs on the Internet, and the soon to be added Lupus articles section will cover the latest news items that would be of interest to someone living with lupus. These sections will be continuously updated with the latest from the web on lupus related information, so you don’t need to search several sites to find what you are looking for; the Alliance will do it for you and store it in one convenient spot.

The Lupus information listed on the new website ranges from everything about symptoms, diagnosis, how to find a doctor or an Alliance affiliate near you, and information on overlapping diseases common in those diagnosed with lupus. The research section, updated monthly, will show the latest in everything from clinical trials, to new medications on the horizon, and where you can donate to further the cause. An advocacy section allows you to learn how you can get involved and help by writing your legislators when new lupus legislation is coming up, how you can go to Washington to speak about your life with lupus and more.

The Lupus Alliance is hoping that their new website will become a source of information to thousands of people living with lupus, from the newly diagnosed to those who have been facing their life with lupus for years. The Alliance site will also give you opportunities to fundraise and help the cause without ever leaving your home through igive.com, ebay, firstgiving and more.
