There are a variety of giving options available to you. The Lupus Alliance of America is a tax-exempt, 501(c) 3 organization and can receive contributions that are tax deductible. By donating you will help us provide:

  • Support for vital research that will expand the knowledge of lupus and secure more effective measures to diagnosis, treat, and cure this disease.
  • Education for affiliates to support people with lupus and their families.
  • Awareness about the urgent need for more research and education.

  • Donations

A donation is a general contribution to the LAA Lupus Alliance of America to help us continue our efforts in fighting lupus and bring awareness. Click here to donate online. If you would like, you can make this a recurring monthly donation to fight lupus.

  • Memorial Gifts

A memorial is a personal remembrance that honors the life of a friend, relative or colleague with a gift of love and hope. Click here to send a memorial gift. When you make a memorial contribution, the Lupus Alliance of Americasends a note of acknowledgment to the recipient (or the recipient’s family) so please be sure to include their full address.


  • Tributes

A tribute provides a meaningful living gift to a friend, relative or colleague by honoring a special occasion. Click here to send a tribute gift. When you make a tribute contribution, the Lupus Alliance of America sends a note of acknowledgment to those you have designated; so please include the complete address.


  • Matching Gifts

Please contact your company personnel department and request a copy of their matching gift form. Complete the form and send it to us with your gift. We will complete the required information and mail the form to the appropriate person. This will allow your donation to effectively be doubled, or in some cases, tripled. If the matching gift program is on line, include our email at info@lupusalliance.org.


  • Bequests

Consider including the Lupus Alliance of America in your will. This language is only a sample for a bequest to the Lupus Alliance of America. Always consult your professional advisor when making or revising your will. Please note if you want your bequest to be used for a specific purpose such as local programs or research.


Bequests to the Lupus Alliance of America are fully deductible for estate tax purposes. We recommend an attorney to assist you in this process. To include this in your will, it should state:

I give and bequeath to the Lupus Alliance of America, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with Federal ID #02-0553961 having its principal office at 3871 Harlem Rd., Buffalo NY, 14215 , or its successor the sum of $____________ or __________ percent of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate (or the following assets such as real estate, personal property, securities, etc.) to be used for general purposes of the organization. Option 2 to be used for the following purposes: (research, education, awareness, etc.).


  • Your Own Fundraiser

Click on this link http://www.firstgiving.com/lupusalliance to go to an online fund raising page for the Lupus Alliance of America. You may use this page to start your own grassroots fundraising event, memorial page and more. When you click the Get Started button at the top of this page you will see other ideas and details. You may choose to raise money for Research, Education, Public Awareness or Direct Patient Services. Just start now by following the directions shown.


  • Special Occasions

Please note that not all of our affiliates participate in Special Occasion Program. You may call your local Lupus Alliance of America Affiliate to find out if they do.

In the past, people have purchased party favors for a special occasion such as a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, graduation, anniversary party, christening or Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. In lieu of traditional favors many now honor their guests by making a monetary donation to the Lupus Alliance of America. If you are interested in ordering the individual cards or tent cards, please contact the office directly by calling 1 (866) 415-8787 or e-mailing us at info@lupusalliance.org.

We will provide you with a printed donation card to give to your guests. The cards contain your name, date of the occasion, and the Lupus Alliance of America name. The minimum order is 50 cards and must be ordered at least 30 days in advance.

We must ask for a minimum donation to cover costs of printing, while still earning money to support lupus research. Any amount over the minimum is, of course, gratefully accepted and appreciated.

  • 50 cards minimum donation $100
  • 75 cards minimum donation $125
  • 100 cards minimum donation $150
  • 125 cards minimum donation $175
  • 150 cards minimum donation $200
  • 175 cards minimum donation $225
  • 200 cards minimum donation $250

Many have chosen to place tent cards on each table with the same information as above (we recommend 4 per table). The minimum donation is $100.00 for 50 tent cards. Additional tent cards are $50 for 25.


  • Workplace Giving

Workplace giving programs provide an easy way to support the Lupus Alliance of America. Check with your employer to see if they support any of these campaigns and sign on for automatic payroll deduction.

Community Health Charities

Community Health Charities, the largest workplace giving program devoted solely to health in the Public and Private Sectors of the Employee Giving Campaigns. If you don’t find us, ask your employer to add our name so you can support your local Lupus Alliance of America.

Combined Federal Campaign

Public Sector and government employees can support the Lupus Alliance of America through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)

United Way

If you don’t find us listed, ask your employer to add our name so you can support the Lupus Alliance of America through the Donor Designation Program.
